The Vdelt: by Ray Bradbury

The Vdelt: by Ray Bradbury

Ray Bradbury is no fan of tecnologi, in fact he might hate tecnologi. His disagrement of tecnologi is shown in his writing like in the story of The Vdelt. The story takes place in a futuristic house were the people who live in the house dont have to do anithing never because the tecnologi inside the house does everything for the owner. But the family has two kids and they have a futuristic nursery. The nursery takes the kids imagination and turnes it into reality in big screens. But there is a problem, the kids are imagining a vdelt thas has too much violence for the kids and there are constant sreams. So the parents decide to call the psycologist to give a look into the nursey, he gets woried and suggest the parents to shut down the house including the nursery, the parents decide to shut down the house. The kids get so mad that they dicide to trick theyr parents into entering the nursery and the lions of the vdelt come to life and kill the parents even if that wasnt sopossed to happen.

The past chapters have been about how the memories affect how Jonas sees the world. He gets memories of all sort like love between the people, love between animals and people also he gets many pain memories. This memories and love make him want to change things he even tells this to Gabe and then stops taking the sturing pills.

The Want of Change

In the last chapters Jonas world was changed an it wont ever be the same for him. He is getting memories from the giver mostly about pain. Rarely he gets a good memory. Jonas starts to want to change things in the community. He shows this in many various ways like try sharing the memories that the giver gave to him with Asher and Lily but he never gets to show them the memory. Also Jonas starts seeing other colors more often he says he sees beyond. He also gets painful memoryes making his world seem diferent and he is trying to change the things on the comunity. Pases the memories to gabe.

The Giver

The previews week chapter on Jonas lives in a controlled society. The people have not that much of liberty on what they want to do and be in the future. They have lots of rules that have to be followed or you get released. Jonas has to complete the volunteer hours or they will be a deception to the community. Jonas thinks that the only things that you get freedom in are the volunteer hours.  Jonas will finish his volunteer hours and soon will get a gob in the ceremony of 12. The ceremony of 12 is a important tradition in Jonas community that is when you get an assignment for the rest of your life. In they're community the elders watch them and how hey are to give them a assignment. His sister  will get a bike because she is  on a  ceremony of nines. Jonas had started having stirrings for Fiona and has to take a pill to not have them.  Jonas father is taking care of Gabriel a baby so he dose not get realized from the community.

They don't get a choice on where to work
They don't have the choice on many things like in page 37 "your ready for the pills, that's all. That's the treatment for Stirrings" (stirring are feelings for other people) why do they take love of the kids and adults. I connected this to the Truman show when they don't let him leave. On page 50 " The numbers where rarely used after the name" they gave the people numbers and names that they couldn't chose or change.

they treated them like robots
the manipulate the people to much and they should have more liberty.
